Formation of states after 1950s
Andra Pradesh:-Shaped by the State of Andhra Pradesh Act, 1953 via cutting out certain spaces from the State of Madras.
- Kerala:- Formed by the State Reorganization Act, 1956. It included Travancore and Cochin regions.
- Karnataka:- Formed from the regal province of Mysore by the state Reorganization Act, 1956, It was renamed Karnataka is 1973 from Mysore.
- Gujarat and Maharashtra :-The State of Bombay was partitioned into two states to be specific, Maharashtra and Gujarat by the Bombay (Reorganization) Act, 1960.
- Nagaland:- State of Nagaland Act, 1962 made the State of Nagaland, which was cut out of Assam (presently Asom).
- Haryana:- It was cut out from the State of Punjab by the Punjab (Reorganization) Act, 1966.
- Himachal Pradesh:-Territory of Himachal Pradesh Act, 1970 raised the Union Territory of Himachal Pradesh to the situation with state.
- Meghalaya :-First cut out as a sub-state inside the State of Assam by 23rd Constitutional Amendment, 1969. Afterward, in 1971, it got the situation with undeniable State by the North-Eastern Areas (Revamping) Act, 1971.
- Manipur and Tripura :-Both these states were raised from the status of Union Territories by the North-Eastern Regions (Reorganization) Act, 1971.
- Sikkim:- was given first the situation with partner state by the 35th Constitutional Amendment Act, 1974. 36th Amendment Act, 1975, inspired its status to a full state in 1975. From 1947 to 1974, Sikkim was a protectorate of India, with India being liable for its safeguard, outside undertakings and communications.
- Mizoram:- It was inspired to the situation with a full state by the State of Mizoram Act, 1986.
- Arunachal Pradesh :-It got the situation with a full state by the State of Arunachal Pradesh Act, 1986.
- Goa:- It was isolated from the Union Territory of Goa, Daman and Diu and was made a full- fledged state by the Goa, Daman and Diu Rearrangement Act, , 1987. Be that as it may, Daman and Diu stayed as Union Territory till date.
- Chhattisgarh:- Created, as 26th State of India, in 2000, by partitioning Madhya Pradesh on first November, 2000.
- Uttarakhand :-Earlier known as Uttaranchal, it was framed in 2000 by separating Uttar Pradesh on ninth November, 2000. In January 2007, the name of the state was formally changed from Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand. It is 27th state of the Union of India.
- Jharkhand:- Created as 28th State, in 2000, by separating Bihar on fifteenth November, 2000.
- Telangana:- Created as 29th State on second June, 2014. It was isolated from Andhra Pradesh with Hyderabad as the capital of both state for the time of 10 years. On the proposal of Shri Krishna Advisory group Report, the new State Telangana is cut out from Andhra Pradesh
